Katie and Fraser Wedding : Angie B Photography - St.Morroes Church and Balbirnie House Hotel

This year has been crazy busy with Weddings, Portraits and everything in between, so I am only now getting around to doing the Summers Wedding Blog posts....:-O (Better late than never!)

Starting off with the wonderful wedding of Katie and Fraser at St. Murroes Church - a quaint, gorgeous little chapel nestled in the Scottish countryside. This Church holds many memories and sentiment for Katie and her family, so it was her dream to be married there also :-)

I drove to the Church in rain, it stopped for a brief moment then the heavens really opened up! But it didnt put a dampener on things as all the guests arrived, smiling as if it was the best Summers day!

Due to restrictions at St.Murroes (as with some other Churches), photography coverage was not permitted during the Ceremony, this is something for Brides to be to think about when considering and booking venues etc. Coverage can sometimes be limited only, if not permitted.

 Obviously for Katie, the familiarity of this Church and personal memories for her outweighed this 'drawback' and for me I loved being able to sit down and really enjoy their ceremony with them!

After the Ceremony, it was on to Balbirnie House Hotel, a 5 star venue and multiple time winners of Best Scottish Wedding Venue and they didnt disappoint! A superb venue, with stunning grounds (although unfortunately the torrential rain prevented us from using them at all) and super friendly, helpful staff - I had a great time working with them.
Instead we used the gorgeous interior of the hotel, a StairCase to 'die for' - just wow! along with the long Gallery and Ballroom.
The night continued with laughter, dancing and general merriment, its always a joy to see these moments for me as I stand back and observe....the preparation, hard work etc has all culminated in these moments of pure joy for the happy couple (and their guests).

Fraser Stuart Buick Newborn Session in Studio

Meet little Fraser.....at 9 days young. What wise eyes and look of curiosity he has - I love it! Lesley and Aly were given Gift Vouchers for a Newborn Session in Studio for little Fraser from their family, they certainly seemed pleased with their unique gift, this will last many more years, than that cute babygro or clothes and give much more enjoyment I hope!

The following images are captured in between 'poses', I always allow extra time during a session for any soothing if necessary, or feeding/changing (there always is!) These moments I like to capture informally, in a similar style to my Wedding photography - more reportage. For me personally - I treasure these types of natural, informal moments.

Newborn Sessions tend to take 2 hours +, this time flew by for me just chatting with the Buicks and putting the world to rights! I always like to take advantage of babys waking moments....normally using this period to capture some family images at this very precious, new time. 

Aiden Adam - STUDIO Newborn Session at Clients home

Occasionally I get the good fortune to 'work' (really im playing) for friends - when their new arrivals enter the world. This was one of these occasions..............I met Clare at one of my weddings the previous year, she was bridesmaid to an lovely couple, Vikki & Scott - and I was the wedding photographer. Sometimes in life, I find you meet people who were just 'meant' to be on your path - this mad lot were that for me and I have stayed in touch with them all since, sharing silly nights and funny moments.

As soon as Clare & Sam found out they were expecting and past the 'safe' period, Clare mentioned she would want a Newborn Session - I was more than happy to oblige!
As I got to meet and play with, this adorable little guy Aiden Joseph Adams at 12 days young and he was just a joy!

I arrived and took longer to set up than normal, I have a problem chatting at the best of times but when working for friends....phew! Good job Sam, put the kettle on ;-) Aiden slept through set up, and apart from a small feed, slept pretty much through his session - only really stirring when we were finished....Now thats what you call co-operative!

Newborn  Sessions are another part of my job, I LOVE and do feel priviliged that parents entrust their precious new addition to me, to capture some beautiful images for them. This is a responsibility I take very seriously, safety is key to me - there are some things that if your baby is too strong or big for - I wont even try. Some other images you may see, are actually composite images - I always have a 'spotter' close by (normally a parent) so never leaving the 'littles' alone at any point.

I have a Studio Space suitable for Newborn Sessions for parents who decide they would prefer to just 'get ready and leave' to session or alternatively I can bring Studio equipment and a limited amount of props to clients own home, again a benefit of this is to be able to incorporate your own items in the session. Both options have different advantages, again Im happy to discuss this with any clients who have any doubts about being motivated for a Newborn Session just after giving birth. Get in contact, I will put your mind at ease!

During this session, Dad made (what I think was a flippant comment) ;-) about using his tools in the session, before we knew it we had this set up below - too cute. Dad is a Joiner by the way not a DeWalt Salesman...;-)

I Cannot think of a better way to spend a morning than with sleeping angels......

Norwell Lifestyle Session

I was invited into the Norwell household as Maisie had just celebrated her first birthday and her mums wanted to capture this special time for them all. They had opted for a Lifestyle Session - using your own home as a 'backdrop' for your images. I find everyone is always more at ease than in my Studio Sessions and it adds a really personal element to the images captured. Lifestyle Sessions are all about capturing you doing your 'day to day' things with your kids and capturing it and all the smiles in between! Sometimes its building lego, reading a book or just simply playtime in their bedroom...

Then Maisie showed me the BEAUTIFUL room her Mummy and Mama had made for her, with such a wonderful place....I had to capture some of Maisie in here....

Again being in your own home, allows me to incorporate some personal elements/items you may not have though to bring to the Studio. This Creative BellyCast for instance - I instantly wished I had done this as soon as Andrea and Rachel showed me it. Initially blank, they both had a great idea of decorating it with a unique family tree for Maisie - sweethearts! Again I couldn't NOT use it - somewhere! ;-)

Natural images like below, are what I strive to capture for everyone, as these images are what mean the most to me. Images of my family, in our surroundings, doing our normal activities and all of the 'moments' that pass between us. I have lots of Studio Sessions I have conducted with my own kids, but favour Lifestyle images EVERY time. If anyone is any doubt, please contact me so I can put your mind at ease....and have a little faith in me! ;-)

As long as weather permits (and location) I like to provide some Outdoor (environmental) images for my clients too, to provide a variety for them. So after we had 'played' ourselves all out in Maisie's room - we headed out to the park! (Where better to be than in amongst the flowers?)
